How Much Will Your Idea Make You?

It's never easy to enter a new market or produce a
new product for a market when you don't have a good
sense for the buying power.

Very few of us have the time or resources to flounder
around in a market or between unsuccessful products
until we find a winner - we need that first product
to be a winner.

When I created my first product to sell online, I was
still working 60-hour weeks and learned what sleep
deprivation was really like with a new born baby in
the house.

I remember the self-doubt that crept in many times
during those weeks as to whether I could even complete
my first product let alone whether it would sell.

It would have been difficult to have gone through all of
that and to have sold NOTHING - yet it happens over and
over again when it really doesn't have to.

Now I can't guarantee every product you develop will
turn into $30,000 in sales in your first year - but it
is certainly possible and is nearly impossible to not
make significant sales IF you become good at discovering
the buying power of your market BEFORE you spend time
developing products.

It's NOT enough to know that you have a market and that
they have money -- at least not for me...

I want to see evidence that they are spending money -
and lots of it.

So - I head over to my trusty Keyword Power Generator -
Wordtracker
(I couldn't live without it...) and do an hour or so of
keyword research.

First, you want to find severall hundred to several
thousand searches for related keywords - evidence that
people are searching for products like yours.

Second, you want to see a broad range of keywords that
people are searching for - all related, but not just a
high count on 1 but tens - even hundreds.

Third, you want to pop over to Overture's View Bids
Tool: http://uv.bidtool.overture.com/d/search/tools/bidtool/and enter your terms to discover what advertisers are
paying for top placement in the Pay-Per-Click search
engines.

What you want to see is a high (higher than .50 is OK,
higher than $1 is quite good) on each of the top 3-5
listings, not just on the first listing.

What does this tell you?

Typically if advertising revenues are high, it means
customers are buying - otherwise advertising revenues
decline.

Even better, you have the links to click on that allow you
to find out excatly what types of products are selling.

For example - let's take the keyword "resume writing"

We find TONS of demand - hundreds of thousands of searches
each month.

Next - we find pretty good advertising revenue, in the
$1.00-$2.00 per click for the top 5 listings.

Now, let's see what is selling. Without an exception, what
people are paying for is a resume writing service.

So - if you thought of writing a book or creating a course,
there is NO evidence that there is a willing, paying market
to learn.

In fact, let's do something interesting - let's enter
"how to write a resume" as your keyword. A logical
search for someone looking for ebooks or other information
on the topic.

The results are brutal - less than .20 for the highest
priced bid on Overture.

Do you think out of the millions of PPC advertisers, that
such a low bid would occur if there were lots of HOT customers
for resume writing information?

Absolutely NOT!

In fact, I've known ebook writers who have been burned by
this very market - with this 15-minutes of research, they
could have saved thousands and months of work.

Don't make the same mistake.

How Do You Turn Your Sales Letter From Good To Great?

Ever wonder why John Carleton, Yanik Silver, Michel Fortin or

You Need Benfits AND Emotional Outcome

you understand the bigger emotional drivers behind their need to

An example....

You want to tackle weight loss motivation - and you see a pattern of
questions like:

"Initial motivation is not my problem, but how do you sustain motivation" or
"How do you handle the negative people in your life"

etc...

These are all specific things people want - and definitely should drive your
content and marketing BUT...

Your copy should also include specific references to their ULTIMATE goal or
EMOTIONAL outcome, which is usually not to just loose weight, but to look
better, feel better, have more energy, attract more love into their life,
make them more successful, earn more money, etc...

So when you think about your topic, think one level higher - WHY do they
need your product to help them with your topic? If they want to improve
their golf game, then they likely want to look better in front of their
friends, feel younger, gain the confidence to play even more exotic
courses, etc...

A large part of your copy (ie. headline, first paragraphs, sub-heads, PS,
etc...) should be constantly painting a picture of today and tomorrow - with
your bullet benefits being the path to getting there.

Look How Easy It Is To Write Your Own eBook!

Do you have to be an expert to write your own ebook
about a topic you KNOW will sell?

What happens when you stumble across a promising
market, idea or topic for an ebook, but don't know
how to quickly find out what content you should
package to sell?

Let's look at a real life example.

A quick check on Overture shows the demand for topics

Look closely at the bullets half-way down the page, you will see
the very questions any "beginner" fish owner would have - questions

- how to know how much to feed your fish
- how to place and light your aquarium

and so on...

Now, even if you were brand new to aquariums and fish, then you
could likely have come up with at least half the questions he
has answered in his book.

The rest, with a few hours research on discussion forums,
magazines, talking with fish owners - you could find the
rest.

What you want is to target the 80-90% of the market that are
beginners - that you can easily find answers to their pressing
questions.

You will find hundreds of thousands of similar market
opportunities out there - where you can assemble a list of
questions to be answered and simply write a few pages each
day to create your own compelling ebooks.

There is no guarantee - but with a well researched idea and
a half-decent product, you should easily be able to turn each
ebook into at least $20,000/yr in income - much more in certain
cases.

With this system open in front of me on my desk, I can let
it slip that there are 3 main things you have to master if
you want to join the big money ebook creators:

1. Find a RED HOT idea. Here are 3 quick ways to find ideas
that will sell:

a) Identify a niche market and look for signs of both keyword
search demand (using a tool like the Overture Keyword

The 2-Minute Video - How To Own Your Own Island

Bet you've never thought of creating your own 2-minute viral videos?

Is There A Hot Selling Book Inside Of You?

I was thinking about something humorous this last
weekend.

Before creating my very first ebook, my dream was to
get published, you know, your name in lights, have your
own book and all that?

Have you had the same dream?

After looking into the "getting published" option more
carefully though - this is what scared the crap out of
me:

1. Less than 10% of all query letters ever get accepted
- and when they do, that's just for your manuscript.

that ever make a significant profit writing traditionally
