So many times I get asked questions like…”What product do I create?”, “Is THIS the right market” (as if there is only ONE). “How do I pick a niche market” or “What do I do with this product to make it sell”

I could go on, but the point is that these questions are all coming at life and business from the wrong angle…

What are the guidelines for driving YOUR success in business:

1. What does your GUT tell you people want and love? For Steve Jobs it was quality/design, for Bill Gates it was utility and connectivity, for Zuckerberg it is social connection via technology and for Anthony Robbins it is improving the lives of those that at low points in their lives.  What does your GUT tell you?

2. Finding the commercial potential that will allow you to do more of what you love.  When we do what we love without making money it’s called a hobby…that’s terrific, but we also need to a) have the basic needs in life b) have some extra’s that help us achieve recognition and prestige BUT ALSO c) have more so we can drive more growth around what our mission in life is.  Just because you have a passion or interest around something doesn’t mean that commercializing an aspect is bad…it’s actually GOOD.

3. Help your market get what they want. The identification of  irrationally based passions and desires in your marketplace (even when the customers may not consciously see it themselves) is KEY to achieving BIG success in your business venture (indeed to anything in life that requires persuasion).

Stop looking for someone else to GIVE you the idea that will make you happy and make you a fortune…instead listen to your GUT, seek out commercial potential and become highly involved in your market with empathy – then execute!

Enjoy your new-found success…oh…and the journey should be as much fun as the endgame.
