Frequent readers of our blog will know that I sometimes like to randomly select information products (books, ebooks, reports, manuals, training programs and the like) that have recently been released to help learn about book writing and marketing.

book writing ideaWhen it comes to thinking up unique book ideas and book topics, sometimes we just try too hard.  We may have a general audience in mind, a niche market defined and even know roughly what it is we want to write about, but it seems challenging sometimes to come up with the actual book writing idea or concept doesn't it?

Book writers have it made don't they?  They can work from home or pretty much any place they wish, they can work the hours that best fit their quirky creative energy, they get to see their name on the front of their book or ebook and they get the fame and fortune that goes along with being a top-earning author.

write a bookEach week there are new, exciting and inspirational cases of non-writers taking on their passion and achieving their book writing dreams.  Even more exciting is the fact that a good many of these almost instantly see other opportunities opening up before them to create additional courses, workshops, training packages, seminars, membership sites and other ongoing methods of delivering information to their marketplace.

We've had hundreds of success stories work their way through the 45-Day Information Product Profits System over at InfoMarketer'sZone – each week we get to work with new people who have nothing more than the desire to delivery information for profit to their market.

Today, I came across yet another inspirational story…a 76-year old man who wrote a book titled "The Survival Guide: Three Keys To Winning In Today's Society – Respect, Responsibility, and Resolve?"  http://www.pawtuckettimes.com/content/view/52018/27/

Now, on the face of it, doesn't this sound like another leadership, business or personal improvement book title?

So what's different?

Why is John O. Tate getting EXTRA publicity and interest in his book – there is word that major networks and Oprah are pursuing him.

The reason is that his book writing was directed at solving a very specific, targeted problem – the issue of teenagers performing poorly in school with the major culprit being lack of moral and insanely poor performance on key skills such as reading and writing.

In fact, John does a terrific job at targeting 2 URGENT and compelling problems that individual families and society as a whole face…

1. Having your son, daughter or student performing poorly in school
2. National security – the health of our society depends on our population being able to read and write

OUR LESSON ON SUCCESSFUL BOOK WRITING

Many of us, when we consider writing our own book or publishing an info product, decide that we want to write a book about the "How".  For example, we may have a system we believe works well to teach people to read…so we write a book about reading.  Or, we may have a way of helping people reduce stress in their lives so we write the book about that technique (for example, meditation).

So what's the problem?

The problem is that people are seeking outcomes…a finished state of being or doing NOT the method.

Let me explain, the method of achieving something is ONLY important once we are convinved that the method will help us achieve an end state that we seek.

In John's case, he understood his market well – there is a problem with our high schools producing literate students which is symptomatic of a larger problem of motivation and respect within our learning institutions.

Wham….that's the problem.

Parents relate to that problem directly – do you think they don't struggle with this every day?

Teachers are especially in tune with these challenges – they must LIVE this challenge each day.

Judges, police and (to some extent) elected officials resonate with the increasing problem of lack of values and motivation from students.

There is HUGE DESIRE to solve this challenge.

It is within this challenge and desire that John O. Tate chose to frame his solution system – the 3 R's (Respect, Responsibility and Resolve).

There you have it – the perfect case study for how you can build a powerful, fulfilling and profitable self-publishing business with no previous writing experience.

Just imagine where he could take this next?

Virtual seminars sponsored by corporations, the government, schools.

Home study programs for struggling parents that are partially subsidized by private or public funding.

A franchise of seminars and workshops that spread across the country.

Elite coaching to share his ideas for wealthy families and even into companies to inspire, drive and motivate employees.

The opportunties are endless to make massive change and build a large, thriving, profitable business along the way.
