Ok, so maybe it's not ENTIRELY scientific, but it is the process that every long-term, successful, consistently growing online business I know about follows…
I'm talking about all KINDS of online businesses in every niche imagineable, they all follow this system for continually growing their business and profits while adding tremendous value to their respective marketplaces.
When I first started out publishing my own information products I was bound and determined that I would make my fortune marketing ebooks, after all 8-years ago ebooks were new and exciting and I came across a small group of internet marketers that were using them to earn a living online.
It's so tempting to drive into a niche market with your own internet marketing business based on what you believe to be a desire or demand for information.
I've often said myself "If this market actually had X, that would really help them".
To gain momentum starting and growing your own online business you need to get past the hurdle of deciding on the value your business will provide to the marketplace, what your niche opportunity is and who it is you will target with your product.

It's natural, the first thing we tend to think about when entering the information publishing and marketing business online is writing an ebook and putting it up for sale.
First comes the decision on how to price it – everything from offering it free to generate leads, build a list and offer back-end products to charging $37 or more to begin generating immediate income and begin to build your reputation, credibility and bank account within your niche market.

I hear from many entrepreneurs, authors, speakers, first-time business seekers each week who ask "Have I missed the boat? Am I too late to take full advantage of the internet for starting my own business?" The fact is this is the exact RIGHT time to get started with your online business. There are 3 key parts to starting a business online: selecting your niche market and BIG idea, picking or developing a product that fills desire and driving targeted traffic toward your products. We're a big fan of selling information online – ebooks, reports, home-study courses, audio interviews, videos, etc… We are in an era where online users are hungry for information AND there is too much information for them to even BEGIN to internalize. Right now you have very significant potential to tackle a rabid, busy market and summarize solutions to problems or fill strong desires. I would suggest that there has never been a better time to build your footprint and profits quickly in your own online business.

When you're trying to pick your first (or next) niche market for your online business…
Whose advice do you take?
The advice of a part-time, hobby-based entrepreneur who makes an extra $1,000/month with his small niche on raising happy, healthy pet pigs or the full-time online marketer who pulled in over $2 Million last year working from home tapping into the competitive market of health and wellness?
There is a dumb way and a smart way to do everything…actually, there are many dumb ways and usually just a few smart ways to do things, but this is definitely one of the dumber ones.

Nothing happens in your business until you are able to convince yourself and your marketplace that you are firmly headed in a direction to solve a BIG problem, fulfill a LARGE desire, become a leader in your marketplace and THEN…they will buy from you.
Actually, I have a rather substantial list of things I SUCK at…and no, it's not some sort of sadistic, self-defeating exercise…but rather an important list that is taking me to the next level in my business.
