Some topics and sub-niches for e-books, courses, reports or membership sites attract visitors and turn them into buyers at incredibly high rates. That ALL comes down to the niche.

We all know that you should stick to some of the big ones, right?

Weight loss

Health & Wellness

Relationships

Business (selling, marketing, negotiating, etc…)

Personal improvement

Hobbies

But…within these very competitive niches there are Millions of potential sub-niches and topics – how do you find the needle in the haystack?

In the 6 Week InfoProduct Products System Inside InfoMarketer'sZone we train on each of these areas, but here are some powerful pointers for you:

1. Look at what is already selling…You may have heard this before, but stay with me…I want you to do something a little different.

When you look at a directory like Amazon, Clickbank, Commission Junction or other information product ranking lists you not only get information about WHAT but more importantly – WHY?.

In other words, what is the problem in their mind they want to solve.

Here's a simple example…instead of losing weight, getting fit, etc…it was that they wanted to "lose belly fat" . So a product that targets specific weight loss aimed at belly fat is the winner and THAT dictates how deep you go into the niche.

2. You do the same thing with magazines – look for consistent magazine titles to understand specifically what sub-niches within your niche are being most targeted and what is the WHY behind those articles being popular?

3. Next – dig into keyword analysis around these sub-niches, refine the keywords that people are searching the most around these sub-niches and then…You can either use the free Google Keyword Tool or something like this one I use all of the time,

4. Put some content out there to guage demand…blog posts, articles, videos, etc…

Now, you may think "wow, this takes a lot of time!" But really no.

First, it can only take a few weeks (time well spent to better direct your product creation efforts) and

Second, you can do this in a way where you begin to generate traffic, followers and subscribers which you can then tap into as you develop and launch your infoproduct.

There is nothing better than releasing your own infoproduct and seeing the orders flood in…this formula has worked for us 12-times now. It can work for you too.

I am getting asked frequently over the last month by my subscribers and InfoMarketer'sZone members…"what are the HOT niche markets to target in 2012?"

The truth is the hottest niche markets YOU should be targeting in 2012 are those markets where you have an interest, a passion, some experience or a desire to dig into and share your learning with your market.

More than ever before, search engines and those who are searching for information or products to buy on the internet value content.

Thin sites with a few pages of content targeted at immediately selling your prospects something are (or will be shortly) a thing of the past.

The value you can bring to your market is your insights, experience, research, practical experience and time savings for someone who is looking for a specific solution or product.

PASSION + HARD WORK = PROFIT!

The best niches for me have always been niches where I was passionate and active – this allowed me to build lots of traffic via content generation without it really seeming like work. Monetization then becomes the icing on the cake.

Markets I've used this strategy with include:

Infoproducts on…

- Stress management/reduction + additional personal improvement products
- Fat burning
- niche market research
- specific IM info products based on my own business experience

Physical products:

- specific sub-niche within Electronics
- guitars & music blogs
- outdoors equipment

Each of these has been successful because I love to develop and research content, interact with other authority site owners, do reviews and actively participate in those markets so I have interesting insights to share with my market…

So ask yourself, what interests you? What magazines do you find yourself drawn to? What websites do you read in your spare time?

Do you like the latest tech gadgets? If so, what type of gadgets? Audio products? TV's? Computers? Networking? If you have a passion for any specific techology, you can begin by setting up Google Alerts and joining mailing lists for major manufacturer's in your niche so you can "break news" on your blog sending thousands of people to your website where they can be convinced to either join your list, become a frequent reader of your blog, click on ads or buy something from you.

Similarly, do you have a passion to teach or share information with others – then create a simple summary or tips booklet that you can sell online launching your own information publishing business…another way to earn big money on the internet.

Don't be so quick to assume there are specicic HOT niche markets that you must target, instead find YOUR passions, YOUR interests and learn to monetize them. That should be your niche market focus for 2012!

Until you decide and target niche markets online, you will be spinning your wheels not earning a great deal of cash.

The challenge though is knowing the exact steps required to properly find, analyze, evaluate and select a winning niche market as well as a niche focus or niche topic that will attract traffic and profit your way.

Over the last 5-years we have expanded our initial online niche market targeting writers and infoproduct publishers into 4 additional niche markets, dominating each one with a variety of products and services that feed us continual profits.

Not one of the these niche markets failed to bring in substantial profits through our various sites…so how did we find niche markets that worked for our online business?

SYSTEM FOR FINDING NICHE MARKETS THAT PRODUCE PROFITS

After ucnovering and operating multiple online busineses in 4 niches (and counting) – our process looks like this:

1. We start with a topic related to an interest, experience or passion we have (my first two sites leveraged my own interests, next two were done with partners around their interests). Ideally you start with 6-8 potential niches (music, gaming, personal battle with weight loss, anxiety, stress, relationship challenges you have overcome, etc…)

2. You want to then narrow that list to one (to start with) by looking at a combination of search demand, competition and commercial potential

- Search demand simply means keyword research and making sure that you find enough keywords to provide several thousand (at least) searches each month
- Competition – here you look at sites ranked in the top 10 for your keywords, now this gets a little technical, but you want to look at age of domain, keyword targeting, size of site, etc…to see if you can break into the top listings
- Want to know your options for monetization, are others spending money on ads (if they are, chances are they are making money), what are they selling? What commissions can you earn or price can you set for your own product?

By far, this is the most important, most technical and tricky part of the process of finding and evaluating niche markets – we go through detailed training on the steps, tools and techniques you can use to master this step inside InfoMarketer'sZone.

3. Build a site (I prefer blogs) structuring them around content and monetization – generate your content, do some basic backlinking and watch your profits grow.

Steps 1 and 2 must be done correctly in order to pick a niche market and niche topic that is automatically appealing to your site visitors while step #3 demands daily, consistent action.

When combined, these 3 steps form that basis for 6 and 7-figure online business empires. Following this process means you are setting the best foundation for continual, unlimited, upward growth in profits over the coming months.

How do you go about finding niche markets for information products (ebooks, reports, seminars, courses and the like) that will bring in BIG profits?

As we share in the very first week of InfoProfit Video Training Course inside InfoMarketer'sZone, there is one VERY HUGE mistake that people make when they go hunting for a niche…

The mistake is misunderstanding what drives people to pay BIG money for information.

See, many people (tell me if you are one by leaving a comment) believe that people buy information to learn how to do something, to get tips, strategies or learn new things…but that's not really the case is it?

When you buy a book about video editing, you don't really want to learn how to edit video better, you just want BETTER VIDEOS!

When you attend a course on investing, you don't really want to know everything there is to know about investing, you want to know how to double or triple your money.

The Money Is In The Promise Of A Result

A good niche is nothing more than fulfilling the most pressing desire for a result shared by a group of people.

My point is that niches for information products are looking for an end result…not the METHOD, but the RESULT.

An example…

People who seek weight loss ebooks don't want to know how to exercise or even how to lose weight, they want to know how to lose their love handles, firm up their butt or eliminate those "chicken wing" arms.

If you can market your information as credibly helping them reach their desired result, you have successfully targeted your niche.

So try changing your thinking from what "broad niche market should I be in…" to "What highly desired result can I help a group of people achieve"

In the end, you will sell a TON more information products using this approach.

Nothing stops you in your tracks faster when building your online business than struggling to find your niche market.

Here are the common challenges with finding your niche:

1. I just can't seem to come up with niche ideas
2. Hot niches seem to be already taken and are just too competitive
3. Are the tiny markets the most profitable niche markets?
4. Do I focus on one large niche and build deep or do I pick many niches and work through them?
5. What do I do next after finding a business idea?

These questions, and others like them, cause uncertainty, anxiety, fear and slow your progress down on your online business building to near a crawl. Some people never recover giving up on their web business dreams altogether.

I hope you aren't one of them?

4 Tipos For Finding Your Ultimate Niche Market

When someone asks me how to find niche markets, the first two things I make clear to them are:

1. We are MORE interested in proven, hot niche markets than we are in hidden, tiny markets…while there may be more competition, we know there are people buying and we should have confidence that we can out-market the majority so we can capture a good share of the profits being earned from those markets. In fact, the extensive tutorials within InfoMarketer'sZone give you the unfair advantage you need to compete to reach the top with your web business in very little time.

2. We need to always go into our niche research with niche products in our mind. In other words, we always favor finding niche buying activity rather than just niche demand.

With those two points made, here are some tips you can use to narrow your search for hot niche markets.

1. Start by looking at product buying activity. Whether your objective is to develop a niche information product or setup a niche website for selling physical products such as golf clubs, barbecues, yoga equipment, etc…it all starts with knowing what products are selling. For digital information products you want to look at Amazon books and examine the top selling categories right down to the most popular titles for ideas (you can do the same in Clickbank, Commission Junction, eBay, etc…) and for physical products you can again use Amazon or Commission Junction or eBay to look at top selling categories and products. By focusing on products you at least know you are picking niche markets where money is changing hands – then it is a matter of putting yourself between the hungry consumer and eager supplier (you in the case thatyou create your own infoproducts)
2. Find signs of demand, but don't be too rigid here in your criteria. Look, tools like Market Samurai have emerged that make keyword research and website competitive review more of a science. You can get very detailed information and conclusions from this tool on long-tail keywords associated with your niche market and even get an assessment on the level of competition using various criteria that include the use of the keyword in domain names, keyword density, backlinks of your competitors, age of their domain, etc…

This is advanced stuff, and yes, eventually getting into the bowels of niche research where you know everything except the mole on your competitor's butt is useful stuff, but really this is the last 10% of being effective…so get started by looking at some very basic factors like:

a) When you do an exact match search on Google for your keyword(s), how many results do you get? If you get fewer than 30,000 then the keyword is not likely all that effective, you can rank highly, but it may not be worth it. If you get more than 500,000 (remember this is an exact match search), then it will be very tough to rank in the top couple of pages for this keyword phrase.

b) If you are in a range from 30,000-500,000, then look at the top 2-pages of results noticing factors like their domain name, how many pages of content (roughly) their site has and check backlinks using the Google tool.

Remember that to beat your competition you will create content that will beat your competition to the top spots on Google, using a few simple SEO techniques this can usually be easily done. However, if you find that the top couple of pages are held by sites that have huge content sites, thousands of backlinks and the keyword is in their domain name, you may not stand a chance. In most cases this will NOT happen. If it does, then a way around it is to find an equally good keyword phrase where your competition is not as strong.

If you want to see these techniques being used and want to access our help via a private mentor's forum as you build your web business, then head over to InfoMarketer'sZone and join today.

3. Work deeper into a category. Let's say you go to Amazon and search under Golf Clubs to find the hottest selling clubs, as you examine the results, you notice that the #10 top selling set is a Junior Golf Club set – now that can give you a sub-niche that you can focus on similar to women's golf clubs or men's hybrid golf clubs…these can give you a segment of the market that both aligns with hot selling products (Amazon told you so) and where you can better compete to sit high in the search results.

4. Work upward from a specific product. Another approach to picking a niche is to work backward from a known hot selling product. For example, you see that the Big Green Egg is one of the hottest selling trends in BBQ's today, can you work up one level and identify a category of BBQ's into which the Big Green Egg falls? How about Best Charchoal Grill? That's a definite niche market, not as unruly as targeting all BBQ's, but not a single product category either. The same can hold true with information products…start by looking at the top selling books on Amazon non-fiction topics or on Clickbank and then think to yourself, can I target a wider segment? So if you see a guide covering Heroids, could you work backward and create an ebook on Embarassing, Painful Skin Conditions and cover a few different topics?

As you can see, finding niche markets is really not that tough if you know how to go about your niche research. Dig in and get your hands dirty, you will be amazed at what you uncover.

One way to look at a busy market like fitness, business, or travel is to simply given in the to fact that everything has been done in these niche markets, that the daily fighting is amongst the top names in their industry so why would you ever try and launch a new business in that space?

But then you see stories like AirBNB and wonder "how could the biggest names in travel web have missed this one!"

Yet they did, and that will continue to be the case

In other words, there are always gaps in the most competitive of markets…always ways to further refine a niche, or what I like to call, niche it down to find new opportunities.

AirBNB started as a site where property owners in major cities could share a room or portion of their house to travelers – instead of renting an entire hotel room, b&b, apartment, etc…they could share a room.

Can you believe that one of the most competitive online businesses since the web has come online…the travel industry…missed this one?

By launching a business based on sharing rooms suddenly AirBNB found listings expanding rapidly sharing NOT just rooms, but property, entire apartments, yachts, and pretty much anything else you can think of.

Now, they find themselves as one of the hottest sharing sites on the web – spawning tons of other sharing-type sites creating the next revolution where the sharing economy meets social networking, two unstoppable forces colliding for massive revolution in how goods, services and resources are consumed.

Not only will the sharing economy be a massive new wave in consumption, it shows that you can always pick successful niche markets and sub-niche it to find new and exciting opportunities.

Of course there are thouands and thousands of these topics, and not surprisingly, many of them are easily uncovered online – but to give you a feel for what they look like let me give you 10 that I cam across in the last few days:

Internet Marketing & Business

1. 10 Top Ways To Get Free Traffic To Your Website: Traffic generation is always a hot topic, focusing on free traffic is a subset that would gain you the widest, hungriest market

2. The Secret to 7-Figure Website Flipping: Another very hot sub-niche these days is understanding how you would go about developing or buying a website and quickly preparing it to get maximum return by selling it within 30-90 days after buying

Health And Wellness

3. Tone Your Legs: In the uber-competitive world of weight loss, there is still lots of room to enter sub-niches such as belly fat, love handles, and for women – hips and legs fat elimination techniques

4. Shrink Your Prostate In Just 24-Hours – With an aging population, enlarged prostate is an extremely common and frustrating condition for older (and some middle-aged) men. There is significant research showing that the vast majority of prostate problems are due to infection and can be curbed via nutritional and homeopathic remedies

Emotional – Self Improvement

5. Stop Procrastination In 3-Days Or Less: Procarstination continues to be the scourge that so many people view as their #1 challenge when they hit the tipping point in their life and begin to look for change

6. How to Make More Friends: In effect, this is the introverts bible to living in an extroverted society. Helping motivate and teach those less inclined to socialize how to network and gain friendships is a high demand topic no doubt about it

Relationships

7. How to Know Your Perfect Partner – Before You Even Meet Them: Obviously this one alludes to the fact that there certain personality traits that you both want to seek out and can read from a distance – any way to take control of finding a partner WITHOUT experiencing rejection is a popular topic

8. The Perfect Way To Break Up – A negative spin on relationships, but you would be surprised how many people are looking for information on how to break up in as painless a way as possible, a hot topic

Professions, Hobbies

9. How to Become A High Paid Travel Writer – doesn't that sound like a glamourous career? Can't you seem people clamouring to pick this course up?

10. Turning Your Hobby Into a 6-Figure Business Using Trade Shows: With an amazing amount of business ideas making their way through trade shows, a logical product would be to research what it takes to take a hobby, navigate the trade show experience and take that idea beyond to get further funding or expand the business

There is so much high-level, theoretical fluff that people give out as advice when asked how to find their niche market or how to get started making money online…things like:

Go with your interests

Do keyword reserach

Read magazines

Use your own experience

Blah..Blah…Blah!

Look, we've started 4 highly profitable online businesses and helped hundreds of others start their own full-time, money-making internet businesses through InfoMarketer'sZone and let me be totally CLEAR!!

The ONLY steps you need to take to find markets, ideas, customers and buisness concepts that will make you money on the internet are:

1. Find a problem or desire people are passionately trying to solve/fulfill
2. Find out how to reach the people that want it
3. Match that with a product that helps them get what they want (could be an affiliate product, but my preference is always to eventually have my own)
4. Get good at marketing to your market (understand the elements of what must be in place for people to buy – trust, credibility, proof, urgency…)
5. Build a relationship with your customers so you always have a funnel of great (and higher profitability) ideas – notice this takes you back to #1

The universal mistake that people who fail in business make is ignoring rule #1…they don't begin with an urgent, passionate desire to do, have or be something – a tangible result.

Behind every non-fiction, informational ebook, training program, manual, home study course, membership site, consulting engagement or other information product is a deep-seeded desire to achieve a specific result or outcome.

Find out what that burning question, challenge or desire is and you have yourself the most important element to a money-making venture online.

Week's 1 and 2 of The InfoProfit Success Formula go through video training to help you uncover and test for this demand followed by an additional 4-weeks of training that helps you roll out a complete profit-producing internet business built on the strength of high demand.

That's the basis of successful business, so many people fail for the simple reason that they ignore or mess up these 5 basic steps. Don't be fooled…stick to these fundamentals and watch your income soar.

Is there another stage of starting your own online business or information publishing business that causes more confusion, delay or trouble than finding both a niche market and a business or product idea to sell on the internet?

The internet has opened a massive new opportunity for commerce allowing people of all ages and abilities to enhance their existing income or start brand new careers by starting their own businesses and because of that, some of the fundamental steps involved with starting successful businesses and developing hot-selling products have not been learned.

So, what we get is a confusion of marketing methods and research methods.

What I mean is that 9 our of 10 people that seek our help at InfoMarketer'sZone are struggling to find niche markets and product ideas using keywords without taking into account what people are buying.

Instead, keep this principle in mind…

Research what is selling to find market & product opportunties, use keyword research to understand how to reach those markets in a cost-effective, profitable way — NOT the other way around.

What has worked very well for us is actually ignoring keyword in the first stage of analysis and then working our way back there during the validation and actual marketing stages.

Here's what I mean…

1. When we are either looking for niches or have one in mind, I always start with looking at what is selling first — if infoproducts is your end goal, then you want to look at clickbank, amazon, commission junction, seminar portals, etc… to see IF and WHAT is selling in that field.

2. After getting a good handle on what is selling…we then reverse engineer the ultimate challenge or desire behind the consumer demand for that information product…what questions are they looking to find the answer to? What outcome are they seeking?

3. Now you have a target niche, armed with what it is they want – keyword research is the next phase where you have one main objective 1) Finding the right combination of cost-effective keywords that lead you to the best Return on Investment you can get — in other words, which keywords are the "buyer" keywords…that process is part art and part science (process of testing).

Using this approach, we assure ourselves that we are tapping into the "commerce" that is massively growing online – rather than trying again and again to match keyword demand to e-commerce.

It seems so simple to explain and understand – targeting niche markets with highly relevant products is a surefire to gain wealth with your own internet business.

Why then do we all struggle so much when it comes to putting such a simple principle into action?

No doubt this principle works…

1. When we targeted stressed-out, middle-aged men with a simple-to-use, step-by-step system for not ONLY reducing stress, but improving their self-confidence and success in life we hit a home run with a Clickbank product last year

2. We created a killer system for developing information products back in 2002 that ROCKED, we update it twice each year and it STILL The Ultimate Information Entrepreneur's Success System is the de-facto standard system for ebook writing, infoproduct publishing and infoproduct marketing on the internet today

3. We have 15 information products now generated daily profits online at price ranges from $27 up to $1000's – and have more in development right now

4. Using the same approach, we helped a technology company add $10M to its bottom line by developing a training system for their customers that turned out to be MORE profitable than their softrware.

5. Then, there are the dozens and dozens of people we have personally helped to launch their own full-time infoproduct businesses using the exact same system

But… there are very common mistakes that most people make and we want to avoid those – right?

One of those mistakes is how to mix one's interests and commercial potential of niche markets on the internet.

Instead of yet another explanation of how to find and mine niche markets to generate cash – let me try and explain what you MUST do to make big profit with your online marketing.

Let's say you constantly find yourself drawn toward brain research or psychology – you have a real interest in understanding why people act the way they do. You have a dozen books on around the topic in your bookshelf at home, find yourself drawn to Pyschology magazines, discuss this with others, etc…

So, you have an interest.

Now, what you want to do is put that interest on the shelf for a few days.

Go into that market – look at the books you have, the magazine articles, blog posts, examine other products, seminars, etc… that are being sold around that topic with an aim to learning 1 single thing…what OUTCOME are people passionately looking to get out of their interest in that market?

Do they want to…

1. Become a more confident people with a better job and more friends?
2. Do they want to control their emotions to be better around the opposite sex so they can get more dating activity?
3. Are they looking to overcome the pain associated with being embarassed constantly and want to know how to overcome that?
4. Or is it that they are so stressed out is is having negative impact on their health, job or relationships so they BADLY want to learn to control stress…

And so on…

You can find these BIG desires by looking at what people are already buying…then you can apply your interest in helping to come up with solution to help them get what they want.

This way you are coming at the niche from your customer's perspective then applying your interest, passion, and knowledge to help them reach their end objective.

Believe me, this WORKS!
