I get asked frequently if we recommend using Clickbank as a place to list, sell and manage affiliates for your ebook?

Sure I have a couple of products on Clickbank, dozens more that I sell on my own sites (not using CB), membership sites, etc…

CB is a digital e-commerce platform – I would take my guidance by looking at topics that are already doing well on CB (where there are a good variety of products with some top sellers, decent gravity over 20-30). I have found that when I stick to these topic areas on CB I do well (mainly because partners look for products to promote in these areas). But when I stray into other markets where CB is light, I have done better by going with my own affiliate program.

For example, health related ebooks sell very well on CB – weight loss to muscle building through specific cures for ailments all do very well.  One of the reasons is that networks of health-related authority sites look to Clickbank as a source of information products.

On the other hand, some types of personal development, financial, golf or sporting related ebooks do not sell as well on this platform as they don’t tend to have the same attraction for affiliates as other markets do.

Our advice then is to use Clickbank’s Marketplace to seek out products in your niche…if you find several and there are at least 4-5 that have a gravity rating above 20-30 (ideally at least least one has a gravity above 50) then I would consider moving ahead with CB.

Otherwise, consider using other ebook payment processors such as Paypal, 2Checkout with your own shopping cart or another network platform such as Ejunkie to sell your information product.

EVEN MORE IMPORTANT…WHEN SELLING EBOOKS

Of course, it doesn’t matter what platform you use to sell your ebook, if it isn’t in demand, doesn’t have a terrific sales letter and isn’t well marketed – it won’t matter.

In terms of finding affiliates, when first starting out I always go after several affiliates myself…try and take the low hanging fruit (authority sites that promote other affiliate products) and build up sales/gravity that way.

Ideally you keep up that proactive approach, but eventually you do start to see a build-up of affiliates finding you instead of the other way around…assuming you build up some momentum.
