You would be hard-pressed to see anyone successful in online or offline business today that does not have their own line of “how to” informational ebooks, books, courses or info products.

The resulting income stream, publicity, credibility and authority that you get with producing your own info products has become a necessity.

Think about names like…

  • Donald Trump
  • Kevin O’Leary
  • Mark Victor Hansen
  • Tony Robbins
  • Gary Vaynerchuck

The list goes on and it crosses all market segments and all levels of success in business.

So, what info product should YOU create?

When you are starting from ZERO (meaning you have no business, no list, no following, no market and few if any ideas around your product) you really need to first find a market and decide what business you really want to get into serving what target market.

Try these steps we use (and teach within InfoMarketer’sZone) for finding hot niche markets and business ideas that you can create a solid information product line of income in…

Brainstorming Ideas With Commercial Potential

Head over to Amazon, click on “Books” Under the Search Drop Down and just hit Enter, that will give you all categories down the left side. Go crazy looking through the various categories, come up with a list from what you see. You can also go to blog directories like Blogorama which gives you a thorough list of niches with top blogs. If you have a high-level niche in mind, then drill into discussion forums and magazine websites (Ex Psychology Today is great for coming up with ideas around self-help and relationships) to see what is popular.

Drill Into The Underlying Desire/Problem

Focus on problems, frustration and desires – what y you want to walk away with is not only a market, topic and subject, but to find specific problems, frustrations and desires people have to be, do or have something they don’t today. Top info products are really systems that help people through life transformations rather than just informational

Market Research…Painlessly

Once you have your specific ideas in mind, do some market research – search google for your product idea (Ex lose belly fat) + ebook, seminar, dvd, membership site, course, etc… to get a sense for what is already out there, which ones look like your real competition and then how you can be different enough from them to stand out.  This phase of market research should take you hours, not days.  Many people we work with use this step as a final “stalling” technique because they are not yet sure enough about this business, if you fall into that trap you will never get started.

Keep in mind that you want to find markets that you are interested and somewhat passionate about as well as markets that are commercially viable.

In other words, don’t enter a market simply because you believe there is a great opportunity, but for which you have little or no interest…building a business around a market, customer and topic that you have little interest is a surefire way to drive yourself NUTS!

On the other hand, choose a business and market that you are interested in, motivation, energy and understanding of that market becomes play rather than work…that’s what our philosophy has always been, and we have a blast!
