Not a day goes by when I don’t get a question (or several questions) about getting started with internet marketing.
Often the questions surround the first steps such as creating a website, putting up a blog, building a list or finding something to promote online…the problem is that they are missing a plan or simple structure that will ensure success.
I’ve always been of the camp that simple is best…it’s not only easier to stay focused and get things done, but usually our customers like simple too because they can understand what we are doing and why.

Invaluable update summary Jeff. To engage with your niche community try profiling your reader, reaching in to his/her interests, needs and as far as possible personality. Visualize them, become friends with the person inside your head; talk their talk.
If this comes hard, pin a focus picture(s) near your screen. For the dog training niche for example, try snapshots of an owner with a responsive Labrador (or a not so responsive!) It all helps to build a rich and focused picture, writing becomes easier and more enjoyable. And you are getting closer to the heartbeat of “your” community..
Yes, exactly Colin – just as if you were having a conversation offline…the more you can translate that online the better results you’ll get I have found.
