business-successA major part of wanting to be a successful entrepreneur and run your own business is so that you will be happy and can bring happiness and satisfaction to your marketplace.

You should have a clear vision of what “success” means in your own business aspirations, it differs for us all – at least in terms of the personal meaning it brings to our lives.

Universally though we all wish we could be MORE successful…to achieve that we can trace success in business back to these 5 signs that exist in every successful entrepreneur I have ever come across.

1.  Obsessed With Learning And Improving

The most successful people in business are curious by nature, they constantly strive to learn more and they are are never satisfied with the way things are today – or the status quo.   That does not mean they are not tremendously grateful for where they are today, what has come before and what they have learned…only that they pay off that gratitude through being more curious, seeking to continuously improve their market and those around them.  This explains why you see so many highly successful entrepreneurs continue to work just as hard even when they make it big – they are driven by learning more and doing more – ALWAYS!

2. You Find Fulfillment And Happiness In Your Business

One surefire sign of failure I have come across over and over again when we work with entrepreneurs to create and bring their products to market inside Information Marketer’s Zone is either taking a short-term view of their business or treating their business as a career or job where they are more interested in the idea of “making money” or being an entrepreneur than they are with their market and generating value within that marketplace.   The old adage is right – you should be passionate about working in your business whether you make big money or not.   When you find the right fit, then the money will come

3. You Don’t Hedge – You Go All In

Another trait that is hard for many of you to understand, especially when you are trying to transition from other careers or ways of getting paid is to NOT get caught in the middle of “sort of” working your business.  To succeed at your living and breathing business you must go ALL IN and give it everything you’ve got not giving up until you see results.  If that means you only have evenings and weekends right now to start your business – so be it.  Just make sure you sacrifice that time and spend as much time, energy and attention on your business as you possibly can.  Not hedging also means not giving up when you hit “speedbumps” or when you don’t get the results you want.  Nobody and nothing should stop you from continuing forward even if you have just experienced a setback.

4. High Degree of Empathy

If I had to put my finger on one factor that ends up making the biggest difference between moderate success and massive success it would be empathy.  Empathy gives you the ability to put yourself emotionally into the shoes of your customers, partners, peers and employees giving you unique insight into how to connect, learn from and influence/persuade people as you seek to either sell them something whether that be you, your business, your product. your opportunity, you as a partner or you as an employer.

5. Your Eye Is On The Long Ball

Another major factor that separates limited success as an entrepreneur versus massive success is how much vision and patience you have for the “long ball”.  Every business has short-term goals, milestones and if you are a business beholden to investors or a Board then your focus turns even MORE short-term.  However, what translates into massive success is your vision for 1-year, 2-years, 5-years from now and your willingness to make the right decision NOW for the long-term benefit of your business.  What does this mean to you?  It means make sure that your business is on a solid foundation of large target market, with series of desires and that you give forward today to reap the rewards later.  Don’t get caught giving up ethics or reputation for the short-term buck.  Don’t plan to sell your business in 12-months, instead focus on building a high-growth business for the next decade and perhaps THEN you will get bought – but only because you built the business for the long-term.

How many of these traits do you feel you have today?  Do any of them surprise you?  If you think of yourself as an entrepreneur or wish to become one, then focus on these 5 signs and you will go far. Â
