The very definition of an entrepreneur is one who “undertakes”, “grows” and “expands” a business in the face of higher-than-normal risk…in other words, someone who is willing to constantly overcome obstacles, hurdles and barriers in order to move their venture forward.

How can you possibly expect to do that without getting stuck once in a while?

In fact, the degree to which you will succeed at business as an entrepreneur is dependent on getting unstuck as obstacles continue to present themselves, obstacles that would otherwise prevent 98% of others from even attempting what you are aiming for.

So how are successful entrepreneurs able to get moving again when they are stuck?

If we aren’t born with this ability, it means that we can learn to overcome the hurdles that stand in our way – whether they come from within or outside.

4 Ways To Get Unstuck As An Entrepreneur

Big Drive — we work with thousands of entrepreneurs each year inside InfoMarketer’sZone and to be blunt, a good portion of them (upwards of 75%) simply do not have the force driving them required to overcome the challenges that successful entrepreneurs always eclipse.  In most cases, this is because they are in their business for the wrong reasons.  For example, they were handed someone else’s business, they went after a business because they thought they could get rich quick,  or they are hanging on to a business they know is not aligned because they are too proud to fold it and move on.  If you are stuck as an entrepreneur, the first thing you MUST look at is your own gut, instincts and emotion around your business.  Are you excited by the eventual achievements?  Would you work at that business even if you didn’t make it rich?  Do you absolutely love working with your top customers?  If you are not EXCITED by the potential and market you are working with…then change now and save yourself a lot of pain

Knowledge/Expertise – if you have the passion, drive and motivation but you are still stuck, then be honest with yourself around your level of knowledge about how to move forward.  Many entrepreneurs are paralyzed by confusion and indecision.  The way to combat this paralysis is to dig in and learn from those who have successfully gone before you.  Find them on YouTube, on social networks, through live events or meetings, in books and magazines.  Be inspired, but even more important, study what they DO as much as what they SAY.  Look at how they run their businesses, learn what they are doing and why.  Notice patterns they have had over weeks and months – this will tell you what is working.  Too many aspiring entrepreneurs let their ego’s keep them from learning based on others success – yet this is the most effective way to get unstuck in your business

Habit of Discipline – you can have incredible desire and drive and know what you have to do and STILL not do it consistently enough.  Every successful entrepreneur I know understands the most important tasks and strategies for their type of business and they perform these in a highly consistent, day-by-day basis for months and years.   Successful businesses are not built in a few weeks or even a few months…it takes years where you are driven each day but have a fundamental belief and understanding that consistent action multiplies the reward.  If your key contribution is marketing – then be in front of your market with consistent messages each day, multiple times for months.  Getting in front of your audience for a week-long blitz is not enough…running one PR is not enough.  You must build and grow your brand from a seed over months to reach a strong, sturdy tree

Break Out Of Normal – Many under-achieving entrepreneurs we work with are motivated and do have solid discipline but they are still held back by their lack of vision.  They try to do exactly what others before them have done…instead of trying to eclipse what others have done.  The surefire way to build a huge business is to find a way to multiply the value others have brought to your market…look for new, different and better ways to bring value to your marketplace. What do they want MOST and why?  Then, how can you bring it to them in a bigger, better, faster way than others that have come before?

By definition an entrepreneur must fight through being stuck in their business.
