I constantly work with people inside InfoMarketer’sZone that have LOADS of real-life experience they can instantly add to a book, ebook or information publishing business and create a new income stream (or entirely new business for them if they wished).

For others, they have a passion for a hobby or interest that can easily be channeled into research that can be packaged into their own book or ebook with the same result.

Over the past months we have documented many cases of everyday people with jobs or without putting together their own books and ebooks and either getting those books published or self-publishing successfully.

ANOTHER BOOK WRITING EXAMPLE

Nearly 2-years ago Carol Stratton began documenting her life experience around frequently uprooting her family and moving addresses – a frequent mover!

You can see her inauspicious website over at Changing Zip Codes – though not a spectacular design, her personality, warmth and authenticity come through loud and clear.

A few months ago, her focus on this niche market led her to quickly put together a book based on her experiences and the feedback she has gotten from people on her blog…that book is called “Changing Zip Codes: Finding Community Wherever You Are Transplanted.

As always, we like to learn from our profiled author’s experiences – so what can we learn here?

1. Writing Based On Experience Is Easier – when you identify a market and topic from your own life, a hobby or passion you have it is much faster and simpler to put together a platform and book…Carol’s book came together in a matter of weeks.

2. Alternative Publishers and Self-Publishing As Options. Carol was turned down by many publishers, but managed to stick with it and get signed by an alternative publishing company (Lighthouse Publishing).  She could have also gone the self-publishing route with a book like this and done just as well

3. Getting Your Book Written Quickly.  When you have the write topic and know your topic (or at least are willing to work hard to get to know your topic) you can write your book in weeks, not months or years…this is key in today’s rapid publishing environment.

4. Launching With A Platform. One of the really smart things Carol did when she entered this market is start a blog to begin developing an online platform and readership for her “Brand”.  With a platform you have the start of significant “momentum” behind your product, make yourself more attractive to publishers and can guarantee yourself some early sales, testimonials and partners.  Each market we have entered we ALWAYS begin with a blog or forum to build momentum first, we suggest highly that  you do the same.

5. Publicity And Marketing. Carol has successfully obtained coverage from various online news portals, a great start for getting word out about her book and getting some valuable, authority backlinks to her website to help her search engine rankings.  With some additional internet marketing knowledge around article syndication, affiliate networks, SEO, product launches, and video marketing, she could ramp her business up to maximum results.

WHAT WILL YOUR BOOK BE ABOUT?
