Just as there are businesses that struggle to get people to walk in the front door or buy from their store, there are reasons why your email marketing may not be working well. 
 
Maybe it’s not that surprising when a list of 500, 1,000 or 100,000 subscribers don’t respond to an offer you send them then – right?
 
List building still works and email marketing is still one of the most effective ways to build a relationship, improve your  conversions, sell lots of stuff and make lots of dough!
 
But…we’ve large forgotten the basics of what makes email marketing work. 
 
Some people think it has to do with:
  • how often you mail your list
  • what format you use (html, text)
  • whether your email is long or short
  • how much content versus promotion you do
In fact, none of this REALLY matters at all…
 
We’ve been marketing online for over 10-years now, we have built lists over 50,000 subscribers and blog to 100,000’s of readers. 
 
In that time we have made more mistakes than breakthroughs, but that’s what learning is all about right?

CONNECTION Is The Key
 
If you do not CONNECT with your subscribers, you will not sell them anything!
 
How do you connect?
 
1. You try NOT to be all things to all people.  That makes you boring, inconsistent and unsure of yourself.  Your subscribers will go running and screaming away
 
2. You DO pick an identity that best fits your personality  You may be the “awe shucks” storyteller from Georgia (can you guess who that is?), the well-read business tycoon who fed the craze for dating information, or the pioneer video blogger from New Jersey with Red Bull energy & cool videos. 
 
Sure, your identify may disgust or even piss off some of your target audience, but to others, they will LOVE you and become enchanted, loyal followers that will listen and respond to your offers. 
 
So, give it a try. 
 
What will your identity be?  How can you connect with your market?
 
When you do connect, your email campaigns will be at LEAST 3X more profitable, so it really is worth the exercise of creating your online identity.
