10 TOP TRAFFIC GENERATION METHODS

Here are some of the methods that can be used for traffic generation:

1. Website SEO (Search Engine Optimization)  – this is a mix of on-page factors including keyword density, domain name picking, URL structure, meta tags, heading structure combined with inbound link building

2. Article marketing – here the focus is targeting your audience on high authority article and content sites with three ultimate objecitves a) Syndication – spreading your content farther and faster b) Driving traffic from the article SEO placement in the search engines and c) Creating extra SEO juice back to your linked pages from authority directories.  Article marketing has recently taken a hit due to some re-structuring Google has done around where these directories place overall on authority and rank, but it is still a good way to bring in traffic to your website business

3. Paid traffic – most common are PPC campaigns from Google Adwords or MSN followed by a host of personal ad buying opportunities from banners to text links on targeted sites

4. Affiliates – if you have your own products or services you can trade a commission on each sale for exposure by others within your marketplace…this is a terrific way to get traffic and sales

5. Social networking sites – we can no longer ignore the influence of Facebook and Twitter, both can be used to generate traffic to your website

6. Blogging – daily content updates, syndication and interactive content creation with your market (through comments) is perhaps the leading source of traffic for many online businesses – I know it is for our own

7. Video marketing – videos are hot online right now, sharing case studies, tutorials, personal messages and updates with your marketplace is a terrific way to attract them to your website

8. Your own list – from day 1 you should have list building as a key front-end sales funnel method for your online business…over time this list becomes a reliable source of traffic to your website

9. Blog Guest Posting and Commenting – find those high authority blogs in your market and get involved by offering to write guest posts for theirhosts, comment on their posts and refer back to their posts on your own blog posts which often creates a “traceback” to your site from their blog

10. Forums – blogs have taken over discussions from many forums, but each niche market still has at least a handful of high authority forums where you can become involved in the discussion and get some return traffic in doing so

BUT WAIT…DOES TRAFFIC MEAN INSTANT RICHES?

All of these techniques work, the real question is how you implement them in a way that is most profitable and least time consuming.

You can kill yourself writing 100 articles over a few weeks that may generate hundreds of extra visitors to your website, but will they buy anything?

If they don’t, then you just wasted thousands of dollars of your own valuable time for NOTHING!

So many people jump to writing articles, blogging, bookmarking and videos as well as paid advertising without really testing their ROI.

The real TRUTH is that anyone can generate several hundreds visitors to their site each day in a very short period of time (either paid or unpaid) – but the trick is are you doing it in a way that you can TRACK the results.

Use Google Analytics, Website Optimizer (at the very least) both are free from Google – for those of you on 1ShoppingCart, they have a decent Ad tracking module that you should be using.

With Analytics and Ad tracking tied into both your free and paid advertising you can get a pretty good idea of what combinations of keywords/content result in actions (list signups or sales)

Instead of jumping 100% into traffic generation and employing several different techniques, try and avoid feeding the traffic addiction, and instead become addicted to turning that traffic into subscribers and customers.

The Millionaire internet marketers I know are obsessed with testing and results NOT traffic.

I favor rolling out 1 traffic generation method at a time WITH testing, when you find a combination of keywords & content (or ads if you are doing PPC) with landing page that converts, then you can broaden your knowledge of that combination into other traffic generation methods testing to make sure they work across methods.

Going all out with traffic generation not testing and learning is like shooting in the dark, every once in a while you may hit (get a sale), but you will be leaving allot on the table
