What happens when you want to add video marketing to your arsenal of strategies for marketing your business but you are not keen on making these videos with YOU in them?

In the industry, videos of you talking about your business, product or service are called appropriately “talking-head videos”

While there is definitely good reasons to add a few talking head videos into your video marketing campaigns, if you are like most of us…they are often some of the most challenging to get right and we worry that people are not going to want to look at us all of the time right?

Absolutely – the good news is that there are multiple options for video marketing that do NOT involve you talking directly into your video camera.

1.Show The Product

One of the most effective video marketing methods we have used is to show the actual product.

If you have the product (clothes/accessories, electronics, video game, printed book or course, etc…) then simply film you opening, explaining and perhaps even using the product (this doesn’t have to ever include your face and most don’t) We have done well promoting affiliate products this way.  There is something reassuring about showing the physical product, a “real person” opening it, explaining what is included, the main features and benefits and perhaps a quick demo or how the product can be used.

2.Screen Capture – Webpages

Screen captures of actual websites where you highlight some of the key benefits – you talking through the top 2-3 benefits from a website is a great way to pre-sell – especially for longer sales letters where you can cut to the chase in video.  You can imagine capturing everything from an actual sales page to previewing videos, images, blogs or just about any other content online in this fashion.

3.Minimal Talking Head Videos

Screen captures that show you introducing the clip (30s or less), then move to the screen capture (which can be your own powerpoint slides, webpage or even a digital tablet that you markup as you go along).  The idea here is to show that you are indeed a real person behind the voice accompanying the rest of your video.  Your preparation for this can be minimal which makes this more desirable for video marketing than a full  3-5 minute talking head video which needs to be written, produced and acted out.

4. Outsource

You will find that sites like Fiverr and Elance offer many professionals willing to be the “talking head” for your videos alleviating you of actually appearing in the videos.  Instead, you give them a script or outline and they work toward delivering you a professional marketing video you can use for your site.  The price for these can vary from under $50 to more than $200 depending on who you get, demand and production value.  A caution though is to not have these videos over-produced…my experience has shown that basic videos that appear to be filmed by a real person (aka amateur) often outperform highly professional videos by at least 3-4-times

Video marketing is definitely something you want to add to your basket of marketing techniques for either your online business or offline business…using a mixture of video marketing methods outlined above give you flexibility to be more effective.
